Summer term 1 in Year 2
Welcome to Summer 1!
We hope you have had a wonderful half term break. We will begin the first week with our WOW Australia day. This is our new curriculum theme which will continue until July. This half term our focus is SATS. Information about this will be given on Tuesday 30th April. We are also focusing on challenge and changing our mindset. Children will be encouraged to move challenges and use the 5 buddies in their everyday learning. The 5 b's are Brain, Board, Book, Buddy and Boss. Please ask your child what each one means and how they use this with their learning.
Hedley's focus this half term:
Continue to use the spelling strategy
Have a go at the SATS questions sent out with the homework menu.
Practice the 4 calculation strategies addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Please download the Newsletter which gives you more information about our learning this half term and the various themes we will cover.
Please continue to read with your child at home we will continue to monitor how much your child reads over the half term. We would like to see as many children as possible winning their Red Ted accessories. We are continuing reading comprehension lessons to build on the rest of the skills.
Please ensure that your child brings their reading book into school every day. If you feel that your child needs a new book please do not hesitate to go and change their book with them.
A reminder that P.E continues this year.
All children will require a P.E kit and the P.E day is Wednesday.
It is very important that your child has a change of clothes. As the weather brightens up we are looking to start P.E. outdoors. In which case your child will need trainers.
Our classroom doors are always open so please feel free to come and talk to us!
We look forward to receiving your homework. Homework menu's will be sent home with your child during the first full week of term. Please encourage and support your child to complete some homework. We always look forward to seeing what has been created.
