Autumn Term 2
We hope you had a fantastic half term! We look forward to seeing you all back in school and ready for lots of learning and fun. Please continue to support by bringing your child to school every day and on time, reading at home and producing wonderful pieces of homework. We have got a very exciting term planned for the children. We will be continuing the term with 'The magical memory box' in Curriculum. This is a busy term with lots of exciting things planned and we hope your children enjoy it as much as we do. We look forward to seeing you in school, and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask any member of staff in Year 1.
This term children in Albany class will be focusing on books linked to 'The magical memory box' theme in Curriculum. We will be exploring books based around toys. Children will use punctuation such as full stops in their work, as well as ensuring they include finger spaces and capital letters. They will begin to create posters and storyboards to support their learning.
In Maths we will develop our Place value knowledge to 20 and Addition and Subtraction. We will begin to look at 2D and 3D shapes as well as noticing them in our environment. Children will be encouraged to develop their reasoning and problem solving skills in maths.
Our overall theme in Autumn is 'The magical memory box'. The children will be exploring if playing on an Ipad is more fun than playing with grandparents toys. We will be looking at old toys and new toys, their properties and ultimately, which one is more fun. We will designing and creating our own toy.
This term, we will be doing PE on Thursday. We are going to be focusing on co ordination and ball skills this term. Please ensure that children have an appropriate PE kit with them with all clothing labelled. Thank you.
We ask that your child has their book bag with them every day. We encourage you to read with your children at home to win one of our RED TED bears and accessories. Please write and sign your child's reading record each time you do - this helps me to determine whether the reading has taken place in school or at home and ensures I can keep a reliable record for the end of term. If your child has finished their book please change them in Camelot. A member of staff will be more than happy to show you where Camelot is. We will aim to read with your child at least once every 2 weeks.
Keep a look out for our homework menu's and newsletters which will keep you up to date with what we are learning this term. Please bring in any work that your child has done so this can be shared with the rest of the class. We love seeing what you and your children create at home and we want to embrace this at school.
