Autumn term 1 in Year 2
Welcome back to school!
We hope you have had lovely summer break and are really looking forward to seeing the children in to their new classrooms. In the first week we will be settling the children in and our focus for the first two days is based on our learning power sessions. This half term out theme is based on London in the past and present day. We will learn about the Great Fire of London as well as London today.
The focus for Year 2 this half term is becoming familiar with the 5B's. We will talk to the children about each 5B and how we can use these in our everyday learning.
We will also introduce the children to developing our challenge mindset and using the tag line
'Change your words, challenge your mind'
Please download the Newsletter which gives you more information about our learning this half term and the various themes we will cover.
Please continue to read with your child at home we will continue to monitor how much your child reads over the half term. We would like to see as many children as possible winning their Red Ted accessories. We are continuing reading comprehension lessons to build on the rest of the skills.
Please ensure that your child brings their reading book into school every day. If you feel that your child needs a new book please do not hesitate to go and change their book with them.
A reminder that P.E continues this year.
All children will require a P.E kit and the P.E day is Wednesday.
It is very important that your child has a change of clothes. As the weather brightens up we are looking to start P.E. outdoors. In which case your child will need trainers.
Our classroom doors are always open so please feel free to come and talk to us!
We look forward to receiving your homework. Homework menu's will be sent home with your child during the first full week of term. Please encourage and support your child to complete some homework. We always look forward to seeing what has been created.
