Welcome to Summer 1
Welcome to Summer 1 we certainly look forward to lots of sunshine and the weather getting warmer as we head in to Summer. This half term our Curriculum theme is 'Mad about Mini beasts'. This is a study of living things. The children will explore mini beasts in our local environment and look at how we classify mini beasts and plants using living, dead or never been alive. We will also create sculpture of mini beasts using clay and other materials.
Our English book is called The Minpins. This is a story based on a boy called Little Billy who is told not to go out his back garden gate as there are lots of things lurking in the Forest of Sin. The children will write a letter from Little Billy describing the forest and create their own narrative.
In Maths we will learn about fractions of a shape, money and time.
Please look at our newsletter to find out more about the areas we will cover in Curriculum, English and Maths.
The Homework menu gives children the opportunity to have a go at some activities. Please have a look at this below. Any completed learning can be submitted online to seesaw.
Our PE session will continue to be on a Friday. Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed in their PE kit.
All of the children will be given a reading book. Please read with your child and encourage them to read at least 4 times a week. Log this in your child's reading diary so that they can take part in the RED TED reading challenge! The children will also take home a reading for pleasure book on Friday. Can the children please return these books back on Monday.
