Sherwooders: Our Learning Journey

At Djanogly Sherwood Academy, our school is divided into distinct phases that reflect the progressive journey of a child’s learning, growth, and development. Every phase represents a key milestone, equipping our pupils with the specific skills, knowledge, and mindset to succeed as they transition through primary school.

Here is how our children grow during their time with us:

🎨 Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): Explorers

Laying the foundations of curiosity and independence.

In EYFS, our youngest pupils step into the world of learning as Explorers. We foster a nurturing environment where children learn to navigate their feelings, connect with others, and discover the world around them through play.

Our Explorers will:

  • Show curiosity about the world

  • Play independently

  • Respond to others' feelings

🌟 Key Stage 1: Adventurers

Expanding horizons and building connections.

As children progress into Key Stage 1, they become Adventurers. They begin to look beyond their immediate surroundings, developing enthusiasm for learning and strengthening their social bonds.

Our Adventurers will:

  • Build positive relationships

  • Show curiosity beyond our community

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning

🧭 Lower Key Stage 2: Pioneers

Discovering identity, empathy, and personal passions.

In Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4), pupils step up to become Pioneers. This phase focuses on developing self-awareness, celebrating diversity, and building deep empathy for the people around them.

Our Pioneers will:

  • Celebrate differences

  • Discover their own passions

  • Strengthen their empathy skills

🚀 Upper Key Stage 2: Trailblazers

Leading the way and impacting the wider world.

In Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 & 6), our pupils graduate into Trailblazers. They are encouraged to think globally, work collaboratively, and take active responsibility for making a positive contribution to their school and community.

Our Trailblazers will:

  • Deepen their understanding of global issues

  • Pursue passions beyond the classroom

  • Work together for the good of the community
