Welcome …

 

On behalf of  Djanogly Sherwood Academy’s Governing Body, I would like say welcome to our new children and parents and welcome back, for another year, to all our returning children and parents.

 

My name is Jacint Duduka. I have been an active member of the Governing Body for some years and have recently taken on the role as Chair. My background is in IT and all my three children have attended the school so I was motivated to give something back to the community and school by joining the Governing body.

 

What do the Governors do?

 

The role of the Governing Body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:

 

  • determine the visions and values of the Academy
  • ensure there is a strategy in place to achieving this vision
  • approve the policies for achieving the Academy aims and objectives and monitor their implementation
  • monitor suspensions and review when they occur
  • have an overview and challenge on performance areas of the Academy including safeguarding, standards, curriculum and financial spend
  • be a source of challenge and support to the Executive Headteacher and Head Teacher (a critical friend)
