On behalf of Djanogly Sherwood Academy’s Governing Body, I would like say welcome to our new children and parents and welcome back, for another year, to all our returning children and parents.
My name is Naser Amin and I have lived in New Basford for 35 years. The site that our children go to now is the school I went to in 1989 when it was originally called CTC. I have watched closely how Djanogly Sherwood Academy has grown and become an entity within itself from the hard work of us all as a community. I have a close affiliation with this school because both my children are pupils. However, that does not detract from the fact that I am the Chair of Governors of Djanogly Sherwood Academy and it is something that I am proud of and something I take seriously as part of the community. I am a person that you can talk to and a person that can represent the core values of what we all believe.
What do the Governors do?
The role of the Governing Body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:
•set the aims and objectives for the Academy
•set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
•set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
•monitor and evaluate the progress the Academy is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
•be a source of challenge and support to the Executive Headteacher and Heads of School (a critical friend)
